I have seen abusive relationships and yes my parents' included! It has had an impact on my life, many bad memories, which I might never forget, which pains me even now! I feel the influence of that in the way I take decisions or no decisions! I don't want to write much abt it as it is no good ;-)... But today, I'm happy that the past is over by God's grace! My parents share a happy relationship, surely better than what used to be when I was growing up!
Though there has been times when I hated my dad for all the violence at our home, the lack of freedom and so forth, Christ's love has changed the things at home. Still I dislike some of the qualities of my dad, but that's ok, nobody is perfect!! For, I have few qualities, which I'm not proud of and ashamed to share here :-), but 1 John 2:1 provides me hope, for Jesus is my defence!
I can be in self pity, thinking of all the violence at home or all the decisions that were forced upon or I can live in freedom, letting go the grudge just like Christ, who died for me on the cross, for my past and for my sins to be forgiven. He died for each one of us, though none of us deserved his love!! He gave up his life on his own accord, so that we can approach God with confidence that God has forgiven our sins!! As David says,"As for me, I will come into thy presence with thy loving kindness"
I know that my past cannot control my future! I'm a new creation :-), and I'll love my parents no matter what! How can we not forgive when Christ forgave our every sin!!
I have written all the above believing that my dad doesn't read my blogs :-) and trusting that you won't share this story abt my dad or mom to anybody else, for it would surely hurt them! So don't break my trust pls!! :-)
Main motivation for me to write this to encourage ppl who might have gone through the same path or going though the same path!! ... just to let them know that there is hope; the start might have been bad, but we'll finish the race with joy!! Cheer up!

Truely this is a highly sensitive issue that takes a tangible form esp when we reach a point of taking on new responsibilities and adapting to the next level in life. And I know for a fact, there are too many of us who have been in a similar situation. My sincere prayer is that our generation will live better examples for the future generation. A quintessential God centered partnership coupled with respect, humbleness and love is a great way to start. Thank you for sharing!
